Paradise Coast Tourism Awards: Jack Wert, Tom Donahue and Dave Shula

The Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted the 8th Annual Paradise Coast Tourism Star Awards Luncheon yesterday. Included among the more than 250 people who attended were several elected and government officials.


The keynote speaker was Dave Shula who gave an energetic, motivating talk about the importance of teamwork, supporting the theme of this year’s celebration, “Team Paradise”. Mr. Shula presented awards to many very proud and deserving recipients from the Tourism Industry. The Hilton Naples and Shula’s Steak House Naples teams were well represented with nominations including Marc VanDam for Outstanding Hotel Sales Employee, Darlene Boyle for Outstanding Hotel Front Line Employee, Niccole Haschak for Hospitality Above and Beyond, Hilton Naples for Best Strategic Partner, Lucia Stan for Rising Star. Congratulations to each of you…we are all very proud of your being nominated!


Our winner this year was selected from a crowded field of exceptional nominees in the Restaurant Exemplary Service Award category. We congratulate Tom Donahue for this well deserved recognition and it was even more meaningful for our entire organization because Dave Shula was able to participate in the award presentation. Tom, we are proud of you!


Congratulations to all of the nominees and to our winner Tom Donahue…the Hilton Naples and Shula’s Steak House Naples is so fortunate to have each one of you on the Team!

  1. An excerpt from the nomination for Tom Donahue: In the last six years, Tom has held almost every position in Shula’s. He brought this fund of knowledge and experience with him when he was, well deservedly, promoted to General Manager of Shula’s. Since Tom became General Manager, he has gone out of his way to re-build the restaurant’s relationship with local concierge, many times visiting properites personally. Because of his experience in every aspect of the restaurant, he knows what it takes to operate the restaurant successfully.
