National Estuaries Day at Rookery Bay September 25, 2010

Guests from the Hilton Naples shared their experiences from Saturday at Rookery Bay for National Estuaries Day. They enjoyed Free Admission, Face Painting, food vendors, Marine Touch Tanks, indoor Marine Life Displays and a new IMAX film, "Wild Ocean." The most popular experiences were the new half mile Snail Trail nature trail and the free Kayak Tours on Henderson Creek.

If you'd like to visit Rookery Bay, the admission price is $5 for adults, $3 ages 6-12 and under 6 free. The Center is open Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm through the month of October, 2010, and beginning in November, 2010, the Center will be open Monday-Saturday from 9am-4pm.

The regular schedule offers two-hour guided kayak tours of Rookery Bay, Hall Bay and mangrove tunnels to see birds, marine mammals and other sights of nature. Through Oct. 30, 2010 one kayak trip is offered from 9:00am-11:00am on Wednesdays.

Beginning Nov. 1, two kayak trips will be offered on Wednesdays and Fridays, with start times based on tide schedules. Advanced registration is required by calling 239-417-6310 x401.
Henderson Creek at Rookery Bay

The cost for Kayaking is $40 per person ($35 for members) and includes kayak, all equipment, paddling instruction and admission to the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center. Paddlers must be 12 or older.
