An Unforgettable Evening on Fifth in Naples Florida

Wow! What a great time we had last night during one of our favorite Naples Florida events, Evening on Fifth. Hundreds of people filled the streets and sidewalks of Fifth Avenue South and the energy was incredible. Everywhere we turned there was live music and it was so festive.

People were dancing and singing, the restaurants were packed, and it was just pure fun. We saw moms dancing with daughters, laughing and swinging them high in the air; couples slowly swaying together, and people were even dancing with their dogs. The boutique and shop owners threw their doors open wide and we were invited in to sample and gawk.

We finally had to take a breather, and although our identities will remain unknown, we did enjoy a nice Pinot Grigio at the Jolly Cricket Gastropub where, if you mention The Hilton Naples Hotel, you’ll get 15% off your entire check! This Thursday, July 8th, head downtown for one of the best of Naples Florida events, Evening on Fifth. There’ll be live entertainment up and down the sidewalks of Fifth Avenue South; you can stroll the street, shop, dine or enjoy a cocktail while listening to great music. From high energy rock-n-roll performed by Cloud 9, to soloist Emma Lee performing favorite Patsy Cline tunes, there’ll be plenty for everyone to enjoy.

If you go this Thursday, plaster on your biggest smile because you may end up on TV. Visitors TV Network will be filming the Evening on Fifth party.

Be sure to stop by The Jolly Cricket Gastropub (Gastropub: a step above the more basic “pub grub”) and grab an outdoor table so you don’t miss any of the fun. It’s stylish, yet relaxed, and if you take a moment to say hi to Laura at the hostess stand and Stephanie behind the bar, you’ll feel right at home.

According to Stephanie, “There are a lot of really fun people that come here which is what I love the most.” She then mixed us up one of their signature Cucumber Martini’s, made with organic grain cucumber vodka which was very refreshing. Their burgers are delicious and we’ve heard that the Filet Mignon Sliders on their Jolly Bar Food Menu are not to be missed.

Ghost Orchid

For the past three summers - and now the fourth - a rare ghost orchid has bloomed with multiple blossoms at Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. It is such a rare plant, and even rarer is the fact that it blooms with many flowers at once. The flower currently has 14 buds and the first flower is now open. According to local photographer, Dennis Goodman, "I was at corkscrew yesterday and there is 7 in bloom and 7 are getting ready to flower."  Susan Orlean, author of famous novel, The Orchid Thief, never saw the Ghost Orchid in bloom and now you have the opportunity to do so.
