Oscar Party at the Hilton Naples Hotel

I caught up with Jill Wheeler, Director of Fundraising and Special Events for the Naples International Film Festival and asked her what was the deal with the Oscar Party at the Hilton Naples Hotel.  She told me "ANY excuse to watch films or celebrate and we are THERE!"  Jill invites all of you to come out and join Naples International Film Festival friends, supporters and cinephiles as we cheer on the best of the best in film.

The Academy has once again chosen what we already know to be great, an official NIFF 2010 festival short film is up for an award! One of my absolute favorite things to do when I have guests in town is take them to Sunday Brunch in Naples Florida at The Dock in Crayton Cove. Overlooking Naples Bay on a beautiful Sunday afternoon is heavenly and in true Naples tradition, enjoy The Dock's Make Your Own Bloody Mary Bar.

Every Sunday from 10:30am. to 2:00pm The Dock at Crayton Cove features a bloody mary bar that is out of this world.

Florida Travel + Life Magazine just selected The Dock at Crayton Cove one of "three hot spots where the weekend's top meal is a ritual." They wrote, "The Dock had a bloody mary bar long before it was in vogue. Once your server gives you your glass of vodka, hit the bar to add your choice of Clamato or tomato juice; then dress it up with olives, artichokes, ginger and other unexpected garnishes. The choice dish is the fresh herb lobster omelet, enjoyed at a waterside table with an amazing view of passing watercrafts."

10 Year Old Naples Resident Debuts in Rookery Bay Annual Photography Exhibit in Naples

Clyde Butcher is an internationally-acclaimed photographer with an eye for talent.  He also may find himself sharing the spotlight with a new photographer in town!  At only 10 years old, Kayla Goodman, local Naples resident, is making her exhibit debut this Thursday at the Rookery Bay Annual Photography statewide competition.

Clyde serves as juror of the Rookery Bay's Photography Annual and chose the works of more than 30 talented artists.  The works of these artists will be on view, and for sale, from Feb. 3 through April 1.    

Kayla began her love of taking photos by going out on photography shoots with her dad, local photographer Dennis Goodman, owner of Dennis Goodman Photography.  Mom, Kristen Goodman, is also in the photo business in the form of preserving memories into albums through her business as a Unit Leader with Creative Memories.  Dad & Daughter were both chosen to exhibit by Mr. Butcher. 

There is a free opening reception on Thursday, February 3 from 5:30-7:00pm at Rookery Bay in Naples Florida to showcase the beautiful pictures of this young photographer along with her dad and the other artists chosen.

This is the first chance to purchase one of young Kayla's original photographs.
